Product description
Characterful set of four Dutch dining chairs from the 1970s, crafted from black stained wood with thick cognac-colored saddle leather. The design is characterized by a robust, almost architectural construction. The seat and backrest consist of thick saddle leather attached directly through cutouts in the wooden frame using leather loops. This visible construction forms an important part of the design and gives the chairs their distinctly brutalist character. Over the years, the cognac-colored leather has developed a beautiful natural patina, with variations in color and signs of wear that give each chair its own unique character. The leather has been treated and greased twice and is in good, supple condition. The dark wooden frames are in good vintage condition. The signs of wear and patina have been deliberately preserved and complement the robust character of the set beautifully. On the Dutch vintage market, the design is attributed to Martin Visser for Spectrum. Exact examples have been offered and sold under this attribution. Since the chairs are unmarked and we have not yet been able to confirm the attribution using original Spectrum documentation, we are offering the set as attributed to Martin Visser for Spectrum. Dimensions are as follows: height 74 cm, width 50 cm, depth 47 cm. Seat height 45 cm.
