Rare set of 4 dining chairs and 1 armchair for sale, oak, Amsterdam School/Art Deco, 1920s/1930s. Attributed to the renowned firm J.J. Zijfers & Co., Amsterdam.
The style of this furniture manufacturer and interior designer is characterized by the beautiful Coromandel ornaments under the armrests and at the top of the backrest. The characteristic round decorations at the bottom of the legs resemble small wheels. Patina commensurate with age.
The chairs with removable seats have been restored, given a wax finish, and newly upholstered with a heavy jacquard upholstery fabric, woven with fine bouclé threads in an Art Deco design.

About J.J. Zijfers:
Jacobus Johannes Zijfers, furniture manufacturer and interior architect, was born in 1891 in Amsterdam. He attended the School of Applied Arts in Amsterdam and worked in the furniture industry in The Hague and in Germany.
In 1914, he founded the firm Zijfers & Co. The company provided the interior design for private homes, offices, and other buildings.
The collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam includes several pieces by Zijfers and Co.
