A set of 7 crystal glasses in three sizes, made by Royal Leerdam, model Baluster from the Colonial Williamsburg Reproduction series.
This model is part of the Williamsburg special collection made by Royal Leerdam between 1963 and 1990 in recognition of the findings at the Colonial Williamsburg site (Virginia, US). They replicate the shapes of ancient glasses found during excavations there (see last photo for more info); the material here is however very high quality crystal (30 % PbO), and that can be felt and seen.
The glasses are hand blown, with the inherent beauty and (small) variations. They have a wide folded foot, similar to the antique glasses, and a large bulbous stem, which give them a pleasant weight and stability. The upper part of the cup is simple, thin and smooth, and has an elegant, slightly flared shape. I attach some photos showing images formed in the lensing stem - the perfection of these images shows the amazing quality of the glass, i.e. neither the interior nor the surface have any irregularities.
This set includes three sizes, of which two are also listed on replacements.com, and the third one is slightly larger. They can be used for water, juice, white and red wine - or just for collection. All glasses are in perfect condition, and still have the manufacturer’s stickers.
