Set of six oak dining chairs, model ‘J39’, by Børge Mogensen, Denmark, 1960s.
Known as the “Folkestol” or “People’s Chair,” the J39 was designed in 1947 for FDB Møbler as part of Mogensen’s vision to bring well-crafted, functional furniture to a wider public. This early set, made in solid oak, shows the subtle proportions and sturdy joinery that made the model a Danish design classic. The surfaces display a rich, even patina, while the papercord seats have been freshly handwoven in our own studio. A beautiful example of a design classic and enduring modern design.
Wear consistent with age and use. The papercord seats have been freshly handwoven in our own studio.
