Unique and rare set of six pyramid-shaped bowls, handcrafted in Belgium. The bowls are finished with a glossy multicolor glaze, each color having its own unique character. The glaze doesn't cover completely; this is due to the process used and complements the rustic, handmade character. All bowls are signed, and some still bear the original Maredsous sticker.
The geometric shape makes the bowls suitable for individual use, but also for grouping together to form a compact composition.
Dimensions per bowl: 11 cm per side, 3.5 cm high.
Condition: good. There are a few small chips (see photos), but these are barely noticeable.
This set was made in the Maredsous ceramics workshop. This workshop was established in 1951 as part of the Maredsous Arts and Crafts School, which since 1922 has housed several art workshops, including those specializing in jewelry, woodwork, and copperwork. After several restructurings, the ceramics studio remained the only one active. Its international reputation was built through exhibition participation and awards, and it is closely linked to the name of Antonio Lampecco.
