A beautiful set of six Danish dining chairs, designed by Arne Wahl Iversen for Glyngøre Stolefabrik. With their refined teak wood frame, organic lines, and characteristic curved backrest, these chairs are a striking example of Danish modernism from the 1960s.
Arne Wahl Iversen (1927–2016) belongs to the interesting generation of Danish designers who further developed Scandinavian furniture design after World War II. While Danish modernism is known for simplicity, functionality, and attention to natural materials, Wahl Iversen added a distinct sense of form and proportion. His designs are elegant without becoming aloof and combine a clear construction with a surprisingly sculptural appearance.
The beautifully shaped backrest of these chairs stands out in particular. The slight curve gives the chair a natural, almost embracing look while simultaneously ensuring a comfortable seating experience. The slender teak frame is carefully proportioned, with elegantly shaped legs and flowing joints. Nothing is superfluous; every component serves both a functional and an aesthetic purpose.
The chairs have been fully restored. The wooden frame has been completely renovated and carefully treated anew, while the seats feature new padding and new upholstery. A high-quality, light-colored cream wool blend from Oniro was chosen for this. The calm, natural hue enhances the warm character of the teak while simultaneously giving the chairs a contemporary look.
A particularly beautiful set for a stylish Scandinavian interior, but also stunning as a contrast within a modern, minimalist, or eclectic interior. Country of origin: Denmark
