This set of five La Fonda chairs was designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, originally created for the La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York in the early 1960s.
Softly sculptural and quietly futuristic, the chairs combine organic fiberglass shells with elegant pedestal bases. Their cream color gives them a gentle, almost faded presence—warm rather than stark, subtle rather than pristine.
The chairs show clear signs of use and age. Surface wear, discoloration, and patina are visible throughout. One chair has a small crack of approximately 2 cm in the shell. These imperfections are consistent with age and use and contribute to the authenticity and character of the set. Please refer to the photos for details.
They work beautifully as a dining set, studio seating, or as individual sculptural objects within a space. Less about perfection, more about atmosphere.
