Description
Solid teak frame. Upholstered in fabric.
The seats of three of the chairs have been reupholstered. One chair has a significant area of damage to the upholstery. All covers show clear signs of wear, hence the low price.
The frames are in very good condition.
Designed by Danish designer Erik Buck in the classic mid-century style. Buck's designs are characterized by an organic, curved aesthetic. The No. 49 chair was one of Buck's first successes; the model is distinguished by its seat, which appears to float.
Buck was virtually unknown during his active years, so little information about him has survived. Even the year of his death is not definitively known (1973 or 1982). His work was only rediscovered with the revival of Scandinavian mid-century design.
