Exceptional set of four Space Age floor lamps by Kamenický Šenov, produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1970s. The lamps feature exceptionally elegant, slender brass-plated metal stems and circular bases, each crowned by a large spherical shade in clear bubble glass. Characteristic air bubbles and subtle irregularities within the glass create a remarkable optical effect when illuminated, projecting beautifully textured patterns of light onto surrounding walls and ceilings. The combination of polished brass and substantial hand-crafted glass globes is characteristic of the sophisticated decorative lighting produced by Czechoslovak glass manufacturers during the 1960s and 1970s. Their minimalist geometric construction and dramatic proportions place these pieces firmly within the Space Age, Postmodern and late Mid-Century Modern design vocabulary. With a height of over 50 inches, the four lamps create an impressive architectural installation when displayed together. They are particularly suitable for a large living room, hotel lobby, gallery, hospitality interior or contemporary residential project, but can equally be distributed throughout an interior as coordinating accent lights. The brass-plated metal elements have been carefully repolished and the lamps have received new electrical wiring, while retaining minor signs of age and use consistent with their vintage character.
