Set of 4 white 1970s Gijs Bakker for Castelijn Strip chairs with armrests. This Strip chair is one of the finest examples of Dutch design from the 1970s. Designed by Gijs Bakker for Castelijn in 1974, the chair demonstrates how simplicity can create something special. The chair consists of six curved strips of white lacquered laminated wood. The precise design was revolutionary at the time and gives the chair a sleek, modern look that remains surprisingly relevant today. The design is minimalist, lightweight, yet sturdy – and thanks to the clever system, the chairs are stackable. What makes this chair extra special is its limited production. Only around 11,000 units without armrests were made at the time, and only 1,000 with armrests. As a result, you don't come across them every day. It is a true classic for design enthusiasts. We are now offering a complete set of 4 original Strip chairs. The chairs are in good, sturdy condition with some signs of wear in the lacquer.
