This set of two vintage Ercol Model 478 'Grandfather' armchairs represents a recognizable design from the mid-century period. Manufactured by the British furniture manufacturer Ercol, the chairs are characterized by their high spindle backs and classic silhouette.
The armchairs are crafted from solid wood, ensuring a sturdy construction. The seats feature the original springs and come with loose cushions (not original) in a beige and multi-colored pattern, creating a subtle contrast with the warm wood tones. The design reflects Ercol's craftsmanship, where traditional woodworking techniques combine with a modernist design language.
Solid beech frame. Condition of the wood: Structurally 100% sound, no play in the spindles. The wood has been pre-treated for a new look. One chair by sanding and the other by bleaching.
