Rare Black Leather Brutalist Lounge Chair, Designed by Sonja Wasseur Atelier, The Netherlands, 1970s. Constructed with a black-stained oak frame and thick dark brown leather cushions, combined with canvas seating and a chromed adjustable backrest. The backrest allows multiple seating positions through adjustable height and depth, offering both comfort and versatility. Distinctive details include visible construction elements, sculptural proportions, and a head cushion with characteristic leather buckles. A strong example of Dutch brutalism. It reflects Wasseur’s distinct expression of bold, geometric form and craftsmanship. Produced in very limited numbers in her Amsterdam studio, it exemplifies the striking aesthetic and artisanal construction of Dutch design from this period. Wear consistent with age and use.
