Product description
Serica vase, designed by Dutch designer Jeroen Bechtold. The vase was designed for the Flora ceramics factory in Gouda. The edition of these vases is limited to 390 pieces; this is the second of 390. The maker's signature is on the bottom. The vase is 37 cm high, and the base measures 7 x 7 cm. Jeroen Bechtold was born on May 12, 1953, in Eindhoven. From 1972 to 1978, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amersfoort and completed his teacher training in art education. From 1978 to 1981, Jeroen attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, specializing in Ceramics and Design. In 1979, he completed a five-week internship at Rosenthal in Germany. Rosenthal realized his first design in 1980. His first glass objects appeared in 1982 and 1984. In 1984, he designed a watch for Omega in Switzerland. In 1986, his first design exhibition took place at Galerie Binnen in Amsterdam. A year later, Flora, Gouda, participated in the exhibition at Galerie Binnen. Four of his vase designs were put into production. The collaboration lasted five years, during which time approximately 60 designs were realized. In 1982, he opened his own ceramics gallery, Jeroen Bechtold, in Amsterdam. In 1996, the JBK Gallery opened in Amsterdam. In 2000, the JBK Gallery went online. In 2022, Jeroen vacated his studio and left Amsterdam.
