Product description
Elegant covered vegetable dish made of genuine French porcelain, bearing the SEP France Sélection stamp on its base, a brand found on French tableware sets from the second half of the 20th century. With its low and wide-open form, this is indeed a covered vegetable dish, and not a soup tureen. A piece intended to take pride of place at the center of the table and to accompany those services where each element still had its specific function and contributed to the elegance of the meal. The white porcelain exhibits a beautiful, generous line without being massive. The two openwork handles harmoniously extend the body's movement, while the slightly domed lid culminates in a sculpted finial with botanical curves. The decor subtly features a garland of silvery-grey foliage, accompanied by silver lines that highlight the contours, handles, and lid finial. A delicate composition, typical of this period when French tableware evolved towards greater sobriety while retaining the refinement inherited from great porcelain traditions. The stamp "Véritable Porcelaine – SEP – France – Sélection" links the piece to SEP French productions, of which various tableware elements such as platters, plates, sauce boats, and vegetable dishes can still be found today. The company offered coordinated sets in which the elegance of form and the quality of the porcelain played an essential role. With its approximately 24 cm diameter, this vegetable dish has a lovely presence without being cumbersome. On a contemporary table, its luminous white and silver decor allow it to easily transcend its original context. It can be paired with more modern white dinnerware, crystal, or a deliberately mismatched table combining antique pieces with modern lines. It arrives in remarkable condition, with both the porcelain and the decor having retained all their elegance. No chips or cracks observed. A beautiful piece of French tableware, both decorative and perfectly usable, recalling a time when even vegetables had their own porcelain dish. Circa .
