Very special and sculpturally designed lidded pot in stoneware, made by the renowned Dutch ceramicist Hein Severijns (born 1944). The object was hand-built and wood-fired, with natural ash and flame glazes organically deposited over the surface. Each piece from Severijns' kiln is unique; therefore, this work is a one-of-a-kind piece.
The pot is beautifully finished all around with a vibrant combination of reddish-brown and olive-green flame tones and subtle texturing caused by the firing atmosphere. The lid is dynamically modeled and features an expressive, dashing handle. Signed "Hein" at the bottom, as is customary with Severijns' work.
A typical detail is the small rosette-shaped relief at the bottom of the pot. This decorative element - often with imprinted signature - is characteristic of Severijns' later work and emphasizes the artisanal and asymmetrical character of the object. The rosette forms a subtle accent within the overall design.
