Unique handmade ceramic oil lamp by the Dutch potter Freek Berends.
The object has an organic, pebble-like appearance and is crafted from dark grey to anthracite ceramic with a distinctive speckled, stone-like glaze structure. Due to its hand-formed, slightly indented shape, it is reminiscent of a rounded river stone.
On the underside, the object is hand-signed with the initials FB and dated ’87, or 1987.
It is presumably an oil lamp in which a separate ceramic wick holder was originally placed in the opening. This insert and the wick are missing. Consequently, the object is currently primarily suitable as a decorative ceramic art piece, but could also potentially be used as a small vase for a dried flower or a thin twig. Maker: Freek Berends
