Product description
Black ceramic table lamp base with stylized anthropomorphic silhouette, designed by Gil Agnoloni in the 1950s. Taut lines and organic forms evoke a kneeling female figure, in a modernist spirit akin to sculpture. The item is sold without lampshade - the photo with lampshade is a presentation suggestion.
This luminaire is in very good overall condition. The electrification is functional, with black cord, switch and European plug. The "GIL" signature is visible under the base, along with the model number "131".
A rare decorative object, somewhere between art and design, perfect for a vintage, Brutalist or Mid - Century ambience.
Gil Agnoloni (1912-1988) was an Italian artist and designer active in the mid-20th century. He is best known for his sculptural creations in ceramic, blending figurative art and modernist forms. His work, on the borderline between sculpture and design, is characterized by taut lines, sensual volumes and a formal research verging on abstraction.
Based in Italy, Agnoloni produced a limited series of decorative and utilitarian objects in the 1950s-1960s, including lamp bases, busts and stylized figures.
His work is part of the Italian tradition of post-war auteur design, alongside figures such as Marcello Fantoni and Guido Gambone.
