This ceramic vase was designed and produced by Scheurich in West Germany, during the 1960's.
A simple and beautiful shape painted with fat lava technique in dark brown and white marbled dots. Painted in teal inside. Overall in good condition, with only one small paint bubble broken, that is barely noticed. Marked below 523/18.
Scheurich Keramik started production in 1954, which was quite late compared to other West German pottery companies.
Despite this, it soon became the largest producer of commercial art pottery in Germany. Scheurich kept its prices low and combined with the popular designs ensured millions of turnover. Scheurich’s strategy was to provide the same models with different decorations. The designs were adapted twice a year to the changing tastes of the public. Unlike many of its competitors, it is still trading to this day.
