Beautiful Scandinavian coffee table from the 1960s, crafted from solid teak with a teak veneer top that can be flipped to a lighter side — handy if you want to give the table a different character, or simply to protect the top from daily use. The table features the classic two-tier design often found in Danish and Swedish design from that period: a top with slightly rounded corners, resting on four tapered, turned teak legs connected by a slender brass connecting rod, with an extra shelf underneath for books or decoration.
The top has recently been re-oiled, allowing the grain and warm color of the teak to come fully into their own again. The finish and construction are sturdy and refined, typical of Scandinavian workshops that produced for the export market in the 1960s. No designer or brand name is known, but the quality of the wood and the design clearly betray a Scandinavian origin from this period. An honest, solidly built piece of vintage design — perfect for a Scandinavian interior, but also striking in a more eclectic decor.
