Elegant pair of antique European porcelain serving pieces, possibly dating from the early 20th century, beautifully decorated with delicate polychrome floral motifs, butterflies and refined gilded details. The ensemble comprises a generously proportioned covered sauce tureen presented on its stand, together with a charming covered sugar bowl. The sauce tureen features an elegant rounded body with richly moulded rococo-style decoration, sculptural handles and a beautifully shaped domed lid. The sugar bowl is distinguished by its softly faceted form, elaborate gilded handles and exceptionally charming hand-painted decoration depicting colourful flowers and butterflies surrounded by fine golden foliage. Its architectural lid is finished with a sculptural finial and a delicate ornamental border. The pieces are presented in good antique condition, with normal traces of age and use, including areas of wear to the gilding. Please note that the lid of the sugar bowl sits slightly imperfectly and may not be original to the piece. This remains discreet and does not detract from its decorative beauty.
