For sale: Sarrià basket, designed by Catalan architect Lluís Clotet for Alessi, 2000. Signed and marked Alessi on the underside. Made of 18/10 mirror-polished chrome-plated stainless steel. Fascinated by the capricious folds of crumpled paper, Lluís Clotet reproduced this effect in this basket using the complex technique of cold stamping in a single operation. This particularly demanding process requires significant deformation of the metal while maintaining a perfectly uniform thickness across its entire surface. Its asymmetrical edges and unpredictable reflections make it an object that is as poetic as it is functional, equally suitable as a bread or fruit basket or as a decorative piece in its own right. Very good overall condition, with some minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
