The Saporiti Sapo coffee table, designed by Sergio and Giorgio Saporiti, is a striking piece of Italian design from the mid-twentieth century. This design is characterized by the bold combination of industrial materials and a sleek, architectural form.
The table consists of a robust, rectangular concrete base upon which a heavy, transparent glass top rests. The glass top is firmly anchored to the concrete base by means of two striking, round metal discs, contributing to the furniture's brutalist character. The contrasts between the raw concrete, the clear glass, and the metal accents make this an intriguing object.
