Salins. The name alone is enough to place the piece in the history of French ceramics. Founded in Franche-Comté, the Salins-les-Bains factory produced some of the finest French tableware ceramics of the modern era, from the 1950s to the 1980s. Consistently high-quality glazed stoneware, balanced forms, and hand-painted decorations with a freedom of line that immediately distinguishes Salins' productions from industrial ceramics of the same period. This coffee set is a beautiful example. The coffee pot, with its round body and elongated neck, is topped with a spirally turned cork lid. This detail, characteristic of certain Salins productions from the 1970s, combines the natural warmth of cork with the material coolness of stoneware. The decoration is hand-painted. Large stylized flowers with powdery pink petals unfold across the off-white stoneware, accompanied by soft-edged, grey-brown leaves. The line is free, almost sketched, yet never neglected. The six cylindrical tumblers feature the same decoration. Their straight and generous form, their slightly textured enamel, and their simple silhouette make them as pleasant to hold as they are to look at. The 'Salins France' mark appears under the tumblers, in a circular blue stamp. Coffee pot: approximately 20 cm in height with lid. Tumblers: approximately 11 cm in height. Sold as a 7-piece set. The condition is very good, with the discreet signs of previous use visible in the photographs.
