Rural Village Landscape with Church - Henri Marcette (1824–1890 Belgium)
This charming composition depicts a peaceful village landscape with a church nestled among rolling fields and trees beneath a luminous sky. Marcette’s soft brushwork and subtle tonal palette create a tranquil and highly decorative impressionistic atmosphere typical of the Belgian landscape tradition of the late 19th century.
The work is signed lower left: 'H. Marcette' and dated (possibly 1853) Presented in an elegant later black-and-gilt frame.
Condition: The painting is in good overall condition for its age, with normal craquelure and minor signs of age visible. The frame shows light wear consistent with handling and age.
