For sale is a beautiful, original signed oil painting by Rudolf Pfannenstiel - 1930-.
Rudolf Pfannenstiel, a renowned German landscape painter and art teacher (1888-1979).
Early major work:
Rudolf Pfannenstiel moved to Oberstdorf in the 1920s.
The year 1930 falls precisely within his productive early period in the Allgäu region, during which he discovered the mountains for himself.
Works from this period are more sought after than his later works from the 1960s or 1970s.
The mountain massif portrayed by Rudolf Pfannenstiel is very likely the famous "Allgäu Triumvirate"—more precisely, the view of the Trettachspitze (2,595 m) and the Mädelegabe (2,645 m).
The striking, pyramid-shaped peak structure in the center of the image perfectly captures the typical winter light and the alpenglow characteristic of Pfannenstiel's work.
The viewpoint corresponds to the classic perspective one has of the high Alps south of Oberstdorf (for example, from the Stillach Valley or the region around Einödsbach).
