This magnificent, hand-cut and hand-polished cut glass dessert bowl by Rudolf Hlousek was made in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s and 1940s.
Rudolf Hloušek (1909-1992) founded a glass art workshop in elezný Brod in 1930. His specialty was deeply shaped relief figures, and he employed 40 experienced glass shapers and cutters. Hlouek also used sandblasting. Hlouek graduated from the state vocational school for the glass industry in elezný Brod (1924-1927). Rudolf Hlousek received the Grand Prix for his cut art glass, which the refinery presented at the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1935!
