This magnificent, hand-cut and hand-polished dessert bowl made of cut glass by Rudolf Hloušek was produced in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s and 1940s.
Rudolf Hloušek (1909–1992) founded a glass art workshop in elezný Brod in 1930. His specialty was deeply carved relief figures, and he employed 40 experienced glass cutters and grinders. Hlouek also used sandblasting. Hlouek graduated from the State Vocational School for the Glass Industry in Elezný Brod (1924–1927). For his cut art glass, which the refinery presented at the 1935 World's Fair in Brussels, Rudolf Hlouek received the Grand Prix!
