A rare and highly sculptural porcelain vase from Rosenthal Studio Line’s celebrated Stillleben (“Still Life”) series, designed in the 1980s by Antje Brüggemann-Breckwoldt — one of the most distinctive artistic voices of Rosenthal’s later Studio Line period.
This striking vessel transforms porcelain into something almost textile-like: a minimalist cylindrical form interrupted by a dramatic cascading relief that resembles folded linen, draped fabric, or flowing plaster frozen in motion. About Rosenthal Studio Line
Founded in 1961 under Philip Rosenthal, Rosenthal Studio Line became one of Europe’s most important platforms for avant-garde porcelain and glass design. The company collaborated with leading international designers, architects, and artists, including Tapio Wirkkala, Bjørn Wiinblad, Martin Freyer, Luigi Colani, and many others.
By the 1980s, Studio Line had evolved into a laboratory for sculptural experimentation, encouraging artists such as Brüggemann-Breckwoldt to push porcelain beyond traditional decorative conventions into the realm of collectible design sculpture.
