This is a stainless steel sculpture created by Ronald A. Westerhuis. Ronald A. Westerhuis (born 1971) is a Dutch artist known for his monumental sculptures in stainless steel. After a career as a welder on oil rigs, he began working as a sculptor around 2000. His works are characterized by large scale, clean forms and mirrored surfaces that reflect the surroundings. His motto is "Size does matter," underscoring the impact of large-scale art.
Westerhuis' best-known work is the MH17 National Monument. His sculptures can also be seen at Museum de Fundatie and at festivals such as Lowlands, among others. He works both in the Netherlands and internationally (including Shanghai) and combines technology, art and social commitment. His work invites reflection and interaction with the environment.
