A beautiful expression of 1970s Japanese ceramics, with that warm and deeply organic aesthetic characteristic of stoneware productions from this period. This Rocaille pitcher, a registered Japanese design, first captivates with its material. The stoneware retains the fine concentric striations from its shaping, highlighted by a remarkable pyritized glaze in shades of deep brown, honey, ocher, and golden beige. The firing process created a multitude of speckles and nuances in the glaze, giving the surface a particularly interesting depth. The silhouette is also very striking. A widely flared base gives stability to the piece, while the body tapers slightly before meeting a distinct collar. The generously rolled rim extends into a pinched spout, almost sculpted from the material. Opposite this, the large curved handle, crafted in the same brown tones, brings a beautiful balance to the overall design. With a height of approximately 16 cm, it possesses a real presence. Originally a table pitcher, it is equally appealing today repurposed as a vase for a few flowers or simply displayed alone among a collection of 1970s stoneware and ceramics. The underside retains its original stamp "Rocaille – Modèle déposé – Japon" (Rocaille – Registered Model – Japan), an interesting detail that links the piece to this Japanese production now sought after for its characteristic aesthetic. Good vintage condition. The visible variations in color, small irregularities, and material effects are characteristic of this type of glazed stoneware and contribute to its character.
