Rare Revolt folding armchair designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, Holland 1953. Though the Revolt chair was already designed in 1953, the production started in 1958. The chair has a folded metal base which was very strong and a blue ciranol seat and back. This chair is rare because the folding chair was only used in several buildings in Holland and Belgium. The chair is in nice original condition, the light grey lacquered metal frame has wear from age and usage. The seat and back have very minimal wear from 50 years of usage and there are no cracks or chips to the ciranol. This is for a very hard to find, collectible chair with many hidden details. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
