History & Restoration:
This piece was carefully stripped down to the bare wood and refinished by hand to revive its natural beauty. The solid cherry was treated with a custom water-based stain to achieve a deep, rich tone, and then sealed with multiple coats of 100% pure, natural Tung oil. This traditional finishing technique highlights the wood grain and provides a durable, water-resistant surface with a warm, authentic touch—completely avoiding the artificial feel of modern varnishes.
Note On The Wood's Texture: Upon close inspection, you will notice small, clustered dark specks on the surface. These are not flaws or signs of wear, but rather "flyspecking" (or faux wormholes)—a deliberate finishing technique applied by the original manufacturer to give the wood a tasteful, antiqued character.
