This pedestal-column has elements of Art Deco and Secession and originates from Austria in the early 20th century. It was designed by the renowned architect Hans Günther Reinstein. Constructed from beech and spruce, the pedestal features a revived polish over a painted finish in a soft beige or cream tone. The surface exhibits a distinct craquelure effect, adding texture and historical depth to the piece. The column is accented with two bands of dark, oval-shaped studs, providing a visual contrast against the light wood. It rests on a stepped circular base supported by small, dark feet, with a flat circular top designed for display. The pedestal remains in good condition, retaining its structural integrity while displaying character consistent with its age. The painted finish shows natural aging, including the aforementioned craquelure and areas where the underlying wood is visible, which contributes to its authentic vintage appeal.
