Rare French outdoor set attributed to René Malaval, model Radar, consisting of one perforated metal table and two matching armchairs, France, 1950s.
Made of painted perforated steel and tubular metal, the set has a very distinctive sculptural construction, with curved tubular armrests, perforated seats and backs, and a rectangular table with central parasol opening.
The ensemble has a superb original layered patina, showing traces of blue, yellow, reddish brown and areas of natural surface oxidation. This finish has intentionally been preserved, as it gives the set much of its authenticity, character and decorative strength.
The construction is heavy and substantial, with the armchairs weighing approximately 7.9 kg each and the table 9.2 kg.
Good vintage condition overall, with visible wear, paint losses and oxidation consistent with age and outdoor use.
Sold as a complete set of three pieces.
