The Van Paridon family is said to have started in 1900 in a small farmhouse on Potgieterstraat in Amsterdam. Around 1905, the brothers Pieter (1876), Peter (1885), and Hendrik Van Paridon (1887) opened a studio in the Jordaan district, where they made plaster statues of composers and mythological figures. Later, the Van Paridons, who came from a Catholic family in Baarn, turned to religious sculpture. Large church statues under the name Paridur and smaller statues for the living room. The large church statues not only found their way within the Netherlands, but a considerable portion went abroad. After the death of Peter van Paridon in 1928, the two remaining brothers opened the shop on N.Z. Voorburgwal in May 1929 under the name Van Paridons Religieuze Kunsthandel (Van Paridons Religious Art Trade). The studio on Rozenstraat was expanded to include numbers 44-48. After the war, they also took up glass painting, first opaline and later stained glass.
