About Kunstaardewerkfabriek Regina:
Regina was founded in 1898 by G.F. van der Want and G.A.A. Barras as the first Dutch factory to produce enameled tobacco pipes. The initials WB are therefore often found on Regina pottery. Production of Gouda pottery began in 1917, and tiles were also produced. Characteristic is the smooth green glaze on the underside of the high-gloss earthenware; in the 1920s, matte glazing was also introduced to keep up with fashion. Many products fall under the New Art Nouveau or Art Nouveau style. During and after the Second World War, Regina produced tableware featuring designs by Floris Meydam, among others.
In 1979, the factory closed due to deteriorating economic conditions and was relaunched as Regina Wotra, Ateliers voor Ambachtelijke Kunst in Bleiswijk, under the name A.J. van Dijk. In 1989, a new branch opened in Bergschenhoek, Artihove Regina B.V., and the Bleiswijk location closed. Artihove still exists today, although production of Regina earthenware has ceased.
This elegant vase, designed by Floris Meydam in 1962 for Kunstaardewerkfabriek Regina, embodies the refinement of the mid-twentieth century. With its clean lines and subtle ribbed texture, this vase is a beautiful example of Mid-Century Modern design. The two handles not only add functionality but also enhance the piece's aesthetic appeal. Made of high-quality ceramic, the vase exudes a timeless elegance that can enhance any space. Add a touch of history and style to your interior with this unique work of art.
