Antique 19th-century fire extinguisher. The body is made of red copper. The lid, handle, and fittings are made of yellow copper (brass). The lid has a decorated knob and three carved feet. The interior is black, and the pot has some small dents and light scratches, consistent with its age and original purpose: safely storing smoldering coals or wood from a stove. A beautiful example that has been carefully maintained after its working life.
