Rare and very impressive vintage Wayang teak floor lamp....
The figures shown on the front and back are Javanese Wayang figures - which are normally traditionally used in shadow theater. They usually represent characters from Indonesian epics such as the Ramayana. They are moved behind an illuminated screen, creating shadows that tell the stories to the audience. The wayang tradition is deeply rooted in Javanese culture and serves both to entertain and to convey cultural values.
The lamp is a rare and special piece and an absolute eye-catcher...
