Rare set of two Ypsilon lounge chairs by Ulf Moritz, 1980s The Netherlands. The design is characterised by its clear, architectural form and very deep, comfortable seating. The wide proportions and low stance give the chairs a strong presence, while the loose back cushions provide a relaxed and inviting sit. The chairs are upholstered in dark grey leather. The leather has been professionally treated, recoloured, and finished with a new protective layer, resulting in a well-preserved appearance that remains true to the original material. The deep seat combined with the soft back cushion makes these chairs particularly suitable for long, comfortable use. The German designer lives and works in The Nederlands since 1962 and is best known for his influential work in textile design, where he collaborated with leading manufacturers and helped shape innovative approaches to materials and surfaces from the late 20th century onward. Alongside textiles, his furniture designs reflect the same thoughtful balance between function, material, and form. The Ypsilon chairs are a clear example of this approach, combining sculptural clarity with everyday comfort. A refined and uncommon set that works equally well as a statement piece or as part of a considered interior. The set is in very good vintage condition.
