Rare Set of Two Postmodern Ceramic Vases by Karl Till for Staatliche Majolika Karlsruhe, 1996 – With Original Certificate
A striking architectural duo by Karl Till, created for the Staatliche Majolika Manufaktur Karlsruhe in 1996, capturing the aesthetic optimism of late postmodern ceramic design. Signed and stamped on the base, and accompanied by the original factory certificate.
Karl Till (b. 1939 in Esseg, former Yugoslavia) was trained at the Höhere Schule für Angewandte Kunst in Novi Sad and joined Majolika Karlsruhe in 1963, where he worked for decades as a master ceramist. His work is known for its confident geometry, vivid palette, and precision glazing.
This sculptural pair forms a rhythmic composition of colour and contour: a dialogue between verticality and curvature, between lemon-yellow and pistachio, between absence and volume. Each vase evokes a stylised column or gate—both decorative and architectural, ornamental and graphic.
