A rare piece of French glass art for the lover of authentic design.
This beautiful table lamp can very likely be attributed to the renowned French glass artist Jean-Noël Bouillet (b. 1943), whose work in France and Europe is compared to the great glass houses Daum and Baccarat. Bouillet was known for his masterful, hand-lacquered mouth-blown glasswork in the tradition of Verre Églomisé — organic, marbled color patterns that make each piece unique.
ATTRIBUTION
Why this attribution is very plausible
🔍 Stylistic recognition
The sandy-colored, speckled sheen of the glass and the organic, marbled structure are characteristic of Bouillet's signature technique — no two pieces by his hand are identical.
🏺 Craftsmanship quality
Museum-quality mouth-blown glass, brass fitting with a beautiful, naturally aged bronze patina. No scratches, no chips — the glass is in impeccable condition. ⚖️ Thoughtful craftsmanship
The base is internally weighted with sand — a deliberate, functional design choice for stability, characteristic of the meticulous finishing of an experienced glass artist, not mass production.
🏷️ Double provenance confirmation
Two independent labels confirm each other: on the inside of the shade, the label of Koek Verlichting (Eindhoven–Maastricht), a renowned family business with a history of 60+ years in classic and design lighting since its founding in 1946. On the outside, the gold print “Jean-Noël Bouillet” — a deliberate, legible attribution, not accidental decoration.
🏛️ Reputation of the selling business
Koek Verlichting has built a reputation for high-quality and design lighting over decades. A business with this status and history does not lightly place the name of a recognized artist on a product — this underscores the credibility of the attribution. ⚙️ Condition of electrical components
The original cord switch and E27 socket still function like new — a sign of the high-quality, carefully assembled finish of the time.
📏 SIZE: larger than average
Most known Bouillet table lamps currently in circulation typically measure between 46 cm and 54 cm in total height, with shade diameters around 34 cm. At 57 cm in height and a shade diameter of no less than 45 cm, this particular example is clearly larger than common comparable pieces — an impressive, space-filling size that is rarer within his oeuvre and adds extra allure to an interior.
PERIOD
Presumably 1980s / 1990s — fitting the heyday of Bouillet's artisanal glass art production and the era in which Koek Verlichting actively sold classic and designer lighting through its branches in Eindhoven and Maastricht.
CONDITION
Glass base: perfect, no damage. Electrical connection: fully functional. Shade: original, with light signs of use (stains, minimal cotton damage) — authentic and fitting for the age of the piece.
📸 The many attached photos provide an accurate and complete picture of the visual condition of the entire lamp, including both the base and the shade.
