An authentic 19th-century medicine bottle found in southwestern France. This example is distinguished by its early production method, rarely found on the market today.
Key feature:
Unlike later bottles, this one has a "sheared and fire-polished" mouth. The rim was manually separated from the blowpipe and polished smooth directly in the fire. This results in a characteristic, beveled, and smooth lip—a rare detail that confirms its early dating.
Details:
Shape: Octagonal, hand-blown in an early mold.
Glass: Aqua-colored with numerous air bubbles and a light mineral patina (limescale) on the mouth, underscoring its authenticity as a found in the earth.
UV reaction: Luminous at 365 nm (manganese-containing glass).
Condition: Completely intact. The "wobbling" of the bottle and the asymmetrical mouth are original features of the artisanal process. Height: 12 cm.
A genuine and rare object for the serious collector of antique glass.
