Rare Carved Bamboo Root Teapot - Meiji Era - Late 19th/Early 20th Century A striking and rare teapot (31 cm, see photos for dimensions) carved from bamboo roots, with a bamboo handle. A piece of tea art rooted in the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic and the late Meiji period. A nearly identical teapot was sold by Christie's in 2006 for $900. Art Market Reference: Christie's, February 16, 2006 – Teapot (25.5 cm), 20th century. Price realized: $900 (estimate $300-500) (See last photo). A recent estimate for this teapot is €300-500 by an auction house specializing in Asian art. Dimensions are shown in the photos; the condition is excellent.
