This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The knotting technique and diversity of patterns make this rug unique and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
This is an excellent rug for everyday use with an extremely long lifespan.
Special Afghan, hand-knotted circa 1940 somewhere around Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. The knotting style and color scheme of this special rug are somewhat more Afghan, while the patterns and shapes resemble Turkmenistan rugs more. An impressive rug, exceptionally well preserved and full of stories. A wonderful piece of history, a rare rug that reflects the evolution of the art of knotting by showing how these rugs were made 80+ years ago. A story of wandering freely and gathering inspiration from other countries—even if this came from another country. Completely open to personal interpretation.
Additionally, this rug also reflects the beauty of craftsmanship: nothing is perfect. Some irregularities in shape and imperfections in patterns contribute to its authentic character and tell stories.
Please note: with its long fringes, this rug is 230 cm long!
