A beautiful and rather rare 1960s dining chair with a distinctly Scandinavian Mid-Century character. The chair combines a richly grained walnut-veneered backrest with a wonderfully light wooden frame, slender tapered legs and a softly curved seat newly upholstered in warm mustard-yellow fabric. The broad, gently curved backrest is the defining feature of the design, beautifully showcasing the natural grain of the walnut veneer. Its elegant proportions and open construction give the chair a surprisingly light and sculptural appearance, while the mustard upholstery adds a warm, contemporary accent. The exact designer, manufacturer and country of production are unknown, but the chair's aesthetic places it comfortably within the Scandinavian-influenced furniture of the 1960s, with similarities to the restrained forms of Danish Mid-Century seating. The chair is in good vintage condition with some minor signs of age and use to the wooden frame and finish. These marks add to its original character. The original upholstery had deteriorated and has been replaced with a new fabric carefully selected to complement the chair's period character. A distinctive vintage piece that would work beautifully around a dining table, at a desk or as an occasional chair.
