Danish Design History from the Mid-Century Period
NOTE: The last images are for documentation purposes only and show a US document from 1963 detailing the patent rights and licenses for the manufacture and distribution of the chair model (RANDERS Mobelfabrik DK / MM - MOREDDI USA – California).
They also show an image of a wooden sculpture bearing the signature of the sculptor, who evidently had a close relationship with RANDERS Møbelfabrik.
The signature, DESIGN SIMON, with which he marked his work, can also be found on the teak chair offered for sale here!
That's why we've classified this piece as a unique item!
The few remaining comparable models that can be found online are all marked either RANDERS or MM - MOREDDI!
``` The chair's design is based on the work of Erik Kollig Andersen (DK) and Palle Pedersen (DK), who developed it for RANDERS in the late 1950s/early 1960s.
Construction:
Solid four-legged teak frame with an offset cross base and a wide, elegantly shaped backrest. Danish craftsmanship at its finest.
Lightly padded plywood seat upholstered in black genuine leather.
Condition:
Pre-owned furniture – the chair is sturdy and in unrestored original condition with only minor signs of age and use!
Manufacturer:
RANDERS Møbelfabrik A/S Denmark – a traditional Danish furniture manufacturer that placed great emphasis on collaborating with renowned Scandinavian designers from an early stage. Its heyday was in the mid-20th century, and it no longer exists. However, furniture from this period remains highly sought after and is traded worldwide.
MM – MOREDDI USA – an international trading company founded by the Frank brothers in California, promoted modern art design and imported, among other things, Scandinavian furniture for distribution in the United States. At the same time, the innovative works of Ray and Charles Eames were launched through the "FRANK SHOWROOM."
