The Raak Globe D2000 Floor Lamp, designed by Frank Ligtelijn for Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s, is an iconic example of Dutch mid-century design. The minimalist construction of chrome and smoked glass gives the lamp a distinctive yet timeless appearance. The characteristic globe is crafted from brown smoked crystal glass by the German company Peill & Putzler and rests completely freely within the chrome bracket. This allows the sphere to be positioned in virtually any desired angle, and the light can be directed upwards, downwards, or sideways. Furthermore, the slender chrome frame is height-adjustable from approximately 108 to 145 cm. This particular example has been fully restored with great attention to detail. The chrome and the aluminum tubing have been carefully polished, as has the glass globe. The wiring has been completely renewed and runs neatly through the frame. The lamp is equipped with a foot switch. The condition is exceptionally beautiful. The glass sphere is completely intact and free of chips, and the chrome and aluminum parts are also in very fine condition. The lamp is marked under the base. An exceptionally well-preserved and professionally restored example of a true Dutch design classic.
