Iconic Hokusai table lamp, model D-2022, produced by Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s. The design consists of a large sphere of white opal glass supported, as it were, by a sculptural base of solid wenge wood. The round shape of the glass is precisely followed by the recess in the wooden frame, causing wood and glass to form a single, particularly powerful geometric composition. When the lamp is lit, the opal glass emits a beautiful, soft, and diffused light. The warm, dark wenge wood forms a strong contrast with the almost fully illuminated glass sphere. The glass sphere has a few small chips on the inside of the rim near the opening. These are not visible during normal use when the sphere is placed in the wooden base. This type of wear is understandable, as the glass sphere must be removed to replace the light source. Otherwise, the lamp is in very neat condition. Dimensions are as follows: height 24 cm, diameter 18 cm. Carefully selected vintage design. Professionally restored where necessary, with respect for the original design, craftsmanship, and materials used.
