An exceptionally beautiful collector's plate from the "Zhar-Ptitsa" (Firebird) series, made by the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburgāestablished in 1744 by order of Empress Elizabeth. This is plate no. 10 in the series, painted by the talented Palekh artist Anatoly Blyozko.
šØ The plate depicts a lush and dynamic scene from the Russian fairytale world: a white stallion with riders in golden robes gallops through an enchanting landscape full of fairytale palaces, mythical figures, and magical creaturesāall captured in the characteristic Palekh style. The Palekh styleāoriginating from the Russian art village of the same nameāis characterized by a deep black background, bright primary colors, and fine gold details, entirely in the tradition of Russian icon painting.
