The EarChair was designed from the Dutch design brand Prooff (PROgressive OFFice) by Rianne Makkink and Jürgen Bey. Studio Makkink & Bey have been working together since 2002 and their work can now be found at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Stedelijk in Amsterdam and the V&A in London, among others. Rianne Makkink and Jürgen Bey have designed for Vitra and Sketch, among others.
One of the characteristic features of the EarChair is its acoustic effect. Research shows that the EarChair reduces background noise by 13dB. The chair's extended ears create a nice isolated feeling that gives you a sense of your own space, no matter where you are. For example, choose two EarChairs next to or facing each other and a room of sorts is automatically created.
