Professional Architect's Drafting Table with Original ISIS Drafting Machine | ca. 1955–1960
A monumental professional architect's drafting table from the 1950s, built for daily use in architectural, engineering, and design firms. The combination of a heavy steel base, sophisticated mechanical height adjustment, and an original ISIS drafting machine makes this an exceptional example of industrial craftsmanship from the analog drafting era.
The base is constructed as a fully mechanical steel structure with foot-operated height adjustment and a counterweight. This allows the work surface to be adjusted smoothly and precisely, without hydraulics or electrical components. The construction is robust, durable, and designed for years of intensive professional use.
The original ISIS drafting machine is present in its entirety and forms the technical heart of the table. This high-quality system enabled extremely accurate technical drawing and was used for years by architects, structural engineers, and technical drafters. Together with the industrial construction, the drafting machine gives the table its authentic appearance as a professional tool from an era when everything was designed by hand.
The current work surface was replaced in the past.
